WUSD is a 4-day school district. This position works 8.5 hour days, Monday through Thursday.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To assist in a supervisory capacity in the provisions for the security and protection of all students and property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry;
- Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows and gates to determine that they are secure;
- Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or calls police for assistance, according to emergency action plan;
- Sounds fire signal to alert fire department and school personnel in event of fire and assists in extinguishing fire;
- Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems;
- Patrols school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles; to check cars for parking authorization; to determine if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as near fire hydrants or in driveways; and to check exterior lighting and emergency access routes;
- Makes written reports of security violations;
- Assists administration and counselors in student intervention of all kind.
- Maintains accurate records regarding student attendance and discipline which require data input skills;
- Participates in appropriate in-service, workshops and conferences and staff meetings as directed by administration;
- Assists administration in implementing and maintaining classroom discipline;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable;
- Complies with all rules, regulations and policies of the Governing Board.
MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Other job related duties as assigned by supervisor;
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Ability to pass a background check and maintain a current Fingerprint Clearance Card.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- One year related experience or training;
- Previous experience in an educational setting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.
Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals. Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms. Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally will stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
