POSITION SUMMARY: Complete a CDL training program preparatory to driving a commercial vehicle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Acquire skills to assess incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency
situations for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the situation.
- Develop communications skills to communicate with parents, students, teachers,
administrators, other drivers, dispatchers, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or
receiving information.
- Acquire skills to drive district buses / vehicles for the purpose of transporting regular
education and/or special education students over scheduled routes and to/from school
and/or field trips in a safe and timely manner.
- Learn how to maintain assigned vehicles; both interior and exterior (e.g. performing
vandalism checks, cleaning floors/windows/seats, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety,
appearance, and sanitation of vehicles.
- Learn the process of monitoring students, parents, and/or teachers during transit for the
purpose of maintaining order and ensuring the safety of passengers.
- Learn how to perform first aid as necessary for the purpose of meeting the immediate
health care needs of passengers.
- Learn how to perform pre-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, exterior
conditions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle
and meeting state requirements.
- Performs non violent crisis intervention techniques and restraints for the purpose of de-
escalating crisis situations to provide the best care, welfare, safety and security for all.
- Acquire skills to prepare documentation (e.g. daily mileage and condition reports,
incident/accident reports, inspections, disciplinary and positive behavior reports, mileage,
etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
- Follow Wickenburg Unified School District policies and rules.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Must be able to acquire a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement;
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Pass 5 panel DOT regulated and a 9 panel non-DOT regulated test
- Must maintain a current CPR and First Aid Card;
- Ability to pass a background check and maintain a current Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Submit to annual and random Drug and Alcohol testing
- Acceptable driving record for the last 3 years
- DOT physical
- Pass School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent;

- Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.
- Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals. Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others to convey information and receive work direction.
- Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms. Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally will stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
